8 Day Ndutu Tanzania Luxury Safari Caving Season

Safari Overview

This journey, which focuses on the Serengeti and the Great Migration, is particularly unique. You will spend a minimum of three nights in the park, usually, one in the Central Region (where there are the biggest cats) and two elsewhere, depending on the season. This specific journey has been planned such that you end your safari in Tarangire National Park, which is renowned for its elephant families, which are frequently seen gathering by the river.

DAY 2: ARUSHA – TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
Your Serengeti Wildebeest Migration safari will begin by 7:30AM in the morning with a pick up from your hotel at Moshi or Arusha. With everyone aboard, you will head towards Tarangire National Park. The 140km drive form Arusha will be covered in about 2 hours. The national park is extremely famous and special for its diverse landscape and nine different vegetation zones. As you begin your game drive, you will be welcomed by the ancient and gigantic Baobab trees, which make even animals like the giraffe look tiny.

The game drive goes on till about late afternoon and includes a small stop for a picnic lunch. The 3,000 Square kilometers park gets its name from the Tarangire River that flows through it. The river attracts a lot of diverse animals and you should be able to spot a lot of elephants, giraffe, lions, antelopes and zebra. After the game drive you will leave the park in the late afternoon and drive to the lodge for your overnight stay.

  • Overnight will be spent at Kitela Lodge
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

DAY 3: TARANGIRE – CENTRAL SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast we head towards the Serengeti National Park, via the beautiful high lying farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Leaving the highlands behind, we descend into the heart of wild Africa – the Serengeti National Park – with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. We head to the central park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species. We arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the central Serengeti national park.

After your tour around the park, you will be transferred to your lodge where you will be spending the night.

  • Overnight at Kubukubu Luxury Tented Camp
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

DAY 4 & 5: CENTRAL SERENGETI TO SOUTH SERENGETI (NDUTU)
After breakfast, we head towards the far south of the Serengeti National Park, also known as the Ndutu.

Lake Ndutu is situated in the Ngorongoro conservation area, part of the southern Serengeti ecosystem. Lake Ndutu is alkaline, like most of the other Rift lakes, however, the water is still drinkable and used by a wide array of local wildlife. The majority of the wildebeest migration can normally be found on the short-grass plains from December to April. The area is usually heavily populated with elephant, birds and resident game.

After Lunch and an extensive game drive, we head for our Tented partner lodges for dinner and overnight.

You will spend 2 nights at Ndutu.

  • Overnight at Lake Masek Tented Lodge
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

DAY 6: NDUTU TO NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA
Early morning after breakfast, we continue with our en-route drive inside the Ndutu area before we depart to Ngorongoro. When you first see Ngorongoro Crater, it looks like a forgotten world. Concealed by the steep volcanic walls is a pristine wilderness including sweeping savannah, pockets of acacia woodland and glistening lakes and swamps.

Arriving at our accommodation in the late evening, we will have our dinner and overnight stay at one of our carefully selected lodge.

  • Overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

DAY 7: NGORONGORO CRATER TO MARAMBOI
After early breakfast, you will descend the crater which is almost 600m deep.

The Crater was created when a large volcano exploded and collapsed in on itself two to three million years ago. It is famous for both its geological delights and for being a natural reserve that is home to some of the densest large mammal populations in the whole of the African continent. The drive down into the Crater is an adventure in itself and when you reach the Crater floor, you quickly find yourself amongst large numbers of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, and more than 500 bird species. The Crater provides you with the best

chance of seeing the endangered black rhino, which can sometimes be spotted in the open grasslands.

After Lunch and an extensive game drive inside the crater, we head for our comfort partner lodges in Karatu for dinner and overnight.

  • Overnight at Maramboi Tented Lodge
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included
